At Costa Rica Best Chocolate we want to do conservation through sustainable tourism, that is why we present a totally authentic and responsible service on the rational exploitation of Costa Rica’s forests, transmitting knowledge about nature and sharing the secrets of cocoa production to domestic use in the rural area of SarapiquĂ.Â
In 2015 two colleagues met through the exchange of ideas, we both agreed that we wanted to have better opportunities in life and also that we wanted to do conservation more intensively.Â
Geiner Huertas and Rodolfo Alvarado they have worked as tourist guides in the SarapiquĂ area since then.Â
Being naturalists has allowed them to have a sense of the environmental problems that affect wild species, as well as an understanding of how this affects human life.
EXCELLENT Based on 438 reviews Michelle Simpson2025-09-24Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was an incredible tour! There is so much passion from the owners about conserving the rainforest and helping the local farmers and connecting to yourself, the earth and the chocolate. In addition to the tasting incredible cacao and chocolate, there is a lot of wildlife to see. We saw so many poison frogs and even some monkeys! Tipp: Bar und in Colones bezahlen spart man ca.10% mit bisschen Verhandlung. silvia font i ureña2025-08-24Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.

Environmental Awareness:
We want visitors to have a notion that what affects animals also affects us all and through interpretation, touching people deeply without them knowing it, we love nature and we will make our visitors fall in love without realizing it.Â
Keep in mind, at the end of our tour there is no way for you as a visitor not to collaborate with our mission, since with your visit you can already know that part of your money is reinvested in conservation.
Keeping visitors happy is not that difficult, however what we seek is to touch within them with a message of conservation of which they are already a part, just for having taken their tour with us.

Culture and History
Cocoa pioneers in SarapiqiuĂ At the end of the 17th century, Don Francisco Salicetti, great-grandfather of the family that currently owns the farm, arrived in the SarapiquĂ area to establish cocoa plantations.Â
This inspired us to make this project the follow-up to something visionary, for that time the arrival SarapiquĂ was a matter of two or three days from the capital, Don Francisco S.Â
He was the founder of the hamlet of Chilamate, according to the first settlers, from a gigantic Chilamate tree, the name was given to this town since the tree It was a landmark for hunters and travelers who passed by this tree.
About the Plantation
We work in a 5 hectare Reserve with 1 hectare of cocoa plantation, also adjacent to it is a private reserve of more than 600 hectares.
